MAN FACES CHARGES AFTER FATAL HOLYOKE ACCIDENT

A Springfield man faces vehicular homicide charges after police say he ran a red light and struck another vehicle, killing two people and wounding two others.

21-year-old Jonathan Lopez was arrested Sunday morning, hours after he allegedly fled the scene of the early morning crash.

Investigators did not identify the victims, though they said the deceased were a man and a woman, both 23 years old. The other two occupants of the vehicle were hospitalized in stable condition.

Holyoke police Lt. Jim Albert says Lopez and a passenger fled the scene on foot before emergency crews arrived.

Lopez is scheduled to be arraigned Monday. It's not clear if he has an attorney.
