LAWMAKERS GET READY TO DEBATE THE CANDY TAX

Governor Deval Patrick has delivered his final $36.4 billion state budget plan to Beacon Hill lawmakers, which proposes increasing spending by 4.9 percent over the current fiscal year. Patrick is again proposing $57 million in new tax revenues by applying the state's sales tax to candy and soda.  That would raise about another 9 million dollars.  But, some say that the proposal leaves a bad taste in their mouths.
