DONE DEAL FOR COPS BUT NO CAMS IN CARS YET

The Springfield City Council has ok'd an arbitration award which gives cops a two per cent pay increase as well as benefits from the educational program called The Quinn Bill.  But, although that was easily approved by the council, the issue of cameras in cars remains at large.  The attorney for the police union, Kevin Coyle says once the mayor signs the deal which was 18 months in the making, then a joint committee can be formed to determine the circumstances of what happens with footage from the camera.  Coyle says that it is not that the police don't want the cameras in cruisers they just want to make sure that the protocols are in place to insure that everyone, including the public is protected.
