The possibility of Salmonella contamination is the reason behind a nationwide voluntary recall of dry dog food and cat food under the brand names Iams and Eukanuba. Both brands belong to the company Procter & Gamble, who announced the recall together with the U.S. Food & Drug Administration, as a “precautionary measure.”
The risk of contamination not only could affect pets but their owners as well when handling the specific dry food for dogs and cats.
The U.S. Food & Drug Administration website currently has a list of the affected products and their lot numbers for pet owners to check. No other products from both brands are associated with the recall besides those on the list. See the official list here.
