The eccentric former actress showed up in court Tuesday morning wearing an Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater black tank top, black sweatpants, black tennis shoes … and a bright blue wig.
Bynes, 27, was required to appear in court to face three misdemeanor charges of reckless endangerment and attempted tampering with physical evidence, following her May arrest for allegedly throwing a bong out her window when police came by her apartment to investigate allegations that she had been smoking pot in the lobby of her building.
Bynes claims an officer assaulted her by slapping her vagina and then entered her apartment illegally.
However, not much happened in court this time around. According to the Associated Press, Bynes hardly said anything, the hearing lasted just a few minutes, and the case was continued until September 26.
The only significant development was that Manhattan prosecutors filed an affidavit from Bynes's former building manager, Rudy Toro, which corroborated the police and prosecutors' versions of the incident.
Bynes still faces several driving-related cases in California, although it's unclear how the New York case could affect the California cases.
Bynes was busy on Twitter Monday and early Tuesday morning, although she made no mention of her pending court appearance. Instead, she talked about being embarrassed to be photographed with a broken nose (part of her ongoing facial surgeries) and selected the Obamas as the latest names on her ever-growing "ugly" list.
At least the POTUS and FLOTUS are in good company — the long list includes Lance Bass, Jenny McCarthy, Chrissy Tiegen, Miley Cyrus, Zac Efron, Jay-Z, Rihanna, Courtney Love, and even her beloved Drake.
